Swatch Three - How to crochet offset filet

How a simple double crochet and chain one, can make a filet net or mesh.  This Swatch stitch pattern creates an easy offset (slanted) filet net.

    I am trying to find a patern I did years ago with 3 colors where each square began in themiddle of the side of the one done.
